The Bassmaster Elite, a premiere fishing tournament that travels all over the country, is here this weekend in Cecil County! Around 115 of the world’s top anglers will compete this weekend at the Chesapeake Bay for a grand prize of $100,000. “We’ve hosted two Bassmaster Opens, one in 2009 and the other in 2010, but this is the first time we’ve hosted a Bassmaster Elite. We’re extremely pleased to welcome the Bassmaster Elite family to our shores,” says Sandy Turner, Tourism Coordinator for Cecil County Tourism.
The Neon Run, a fun and family-oriented race, came to the Frederick Fairgrounds on July 25th. The Neon Run focuses more on fun than speed in this nighttime 5k that you will remember for a lifetime. This summer, Baltimore City hosted the CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinals at M&T Bank Stadium. Soccer fans piled into the stadium for the matches that kicked off at 5:06 P.M. and 8:06 P.M on July 18th.
Cuba and USA battled it out in the first quarterfinal match of the night, ending with a final score of 6-0 and USA advancing to the semifinals. Jamaica and Haiti were the next match, and Jamaica scored one in the first half that ended up being their sole goal of the game, helping them advance to the semifinals against USA.
