Doug O’Connor didn’t start racing BMX until he was 42 years old. He enjoyed racing; as does his son. They would spend their summers traveling around the country, going to tracks up and down the East Coast. They would also go to the local track in Severn, Maryland, which was quite run down and out of date. When O’Connor and fellow rider parent Tom Sinchak heard the owner was looking to sell the track they jumped on the opportunity. They knew they could “make it better and make it fresh.” Continue reading
The Color Run (TCR) made its way back to Baltimore on April 19th and was once again a huge success. With over 16,500 people attending it was one of the best TCRs that Baltimore has hosted. Runners from all over came to experience The World’s Happiest 5K and the confetti that took over the festival. Participants ran the course that covered the Camden Yards Sports Complex on Saturday dressed up in costumes and covered in paint. The new course elements like more DJs, Color Ninjas and bubbles were a huge hit. The day was also filled with joy as The Cool Kids Campaign celebrated three children with cancer on stage and tons more on course. The combination of smiles, music, perfect weather and paint made it a great day for all. We look forward to welcoming TCR back to Baltimore in Fall 2014 and hope every event will be this successful. Make sure to check their website for highlights of the event and the announcement of the Fall date.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks opened their Major League Lacrosse (MLL) season this past Sunday with a tough loss to the Boston Cannons. Although it was a rough start to their season, look for the Bayhawks to rebound and make a push for their third Steinfeld Cup in a row. Winning 3 out of the last 4 MLL Championships and having the most championships in MLL history (5) the Bayhawks are the most successful MLL team in history. They are looking to continue their winning tradition this season.
The Color Run came to Baltimore last year and started a tradition of fun, community spirit and color. For those of you who do not know what The Color Run is, it is a 5K held at numerous locations across the country. The Color Run (TCR) is more than just a 5K though; it’s a celebration of life, happiness and community.

This morning as I took my usual walk through the Camden Yard’s Warehouse to get to my office I noticed something different. It wasn’t something out of the ordinary, something in the air was different. There were more people walking around, more trucks coming in for delivery and more cars in the parking lot. It was controlled chaos. It could only mean one thing when there are more people working at a baseball stadium: Opening Day is right around the corner.
